A soft liner is a layer of soft, pliable material that is fitted between the surface of a denture and oral tissue. They help to absorb the shock between the hard base of dentures and the gum while chewing, increasing the patient’s comfort. They should only be on the lower denture.

Being a porous material it should be changed every two years and cleaned well every night. As with all removable dentures, soft liners require a regular check-up to ensure proper fit.
